International Women’s Day

Who do you celebrate today?

A Relative

A Friend

A Teacher

A Neighbour

There have been so many inspirational women in my life and in yours too,  that have made us the people that we are. From the smallest gesture, to the care and friendships and that they have been there, when we so needed that moment of encouragement.

Its so special to have a day to think, to reflect and to remember those who have really had an impact in our lives and remember them as the amazing souls that they are.

Some of my most special memories are with my mum, either watching or helping her to bake.

Whether that was for parties, for dinners or the cricket teas… She is an absolute legend!

International Women's Day
Who Better Than My Mum To Celebrate With On This Day

You know that I absolutely love baking, I always have done and I’ve been baking since I was 18 months old… Yes, I could always be found with the wooden spoon helping my mum.

When I started to grow, I remember my mum always saying that I could be whatever I wanted to be.  If ever I questioned myself, she would say – you can do that… You’ll be good at it, you know you can.

Even now, my mum still has that belief in my that will never falter.  She may have Alzheimer’s, but still believes that I can be, and achieve, anything that I want to.

It’s so important to have someone in our life who can give those words of utmost faith and support and know just when to do that.

I know I’ve been so lucky with my parents, who have always been there, encouraging, having faith and being there for each other.

In all these acts of kindness and encouragement, it makes me realise how many wonderful women I had who influenced my life. International Women’s Day is to celebrate and lift each other up, encourage and celebrate.

You know that baking and cooking has always been a huge part of my life and there really is nothing nicer than to be invited to sit alongside others at a table and share cake, food, a meal and chat and have laughter.

My mum  was always the first to ask people to join us for a meal, a drink, and to spend time with us.

It’s what I remember and a huge part of what has shaped me.

What shaped you to be the person that you are? Which women can you hold high today? Celebrate International Women’s Day with them, or with thoughts of them and smile,

I also remember my grandma, as soon as you would walk into her house, there was a cup of tea and cake!

She was also forthright in her beliefs and views. Always seeing the best in others and that people were good.

And today, I’ll be making a little cheesecake for us to celebrate this day.

And finally, I want to encourage and ask you to celebrate “you” to continue to be the most amazing woman that you can be.

Be bold, be happy and live your life as only you can.

Huge Hugs
